Mate on the vessel, preparing and provisioning for Atlantic crossing, solo
watches and full wash down on arrival in Tortola.

Sailing
from St Malo to Sete, delivering a Pogo 10.50. Working as Deckhand on the
vessel, using main sail, genoa and code zero as well as doing overnight watches
and lines when docking up. Learning how to get the best possible speed
adjusting the eye and tension of the lines.

Training
voyage around the Isle of Wight and along the South of England coast on-board
Albatross 2 Farr 65 and Sweden 45 sailing yachts. This focussed on rigging
handling in challenging weather conditions and particularly control of
corrosion and dealing with routine day to day maintenance issues. The
highlight of this voyage was plotting courses with specific practical
experience in port to port navigation using buoys, three points to pin-point
location etc.

I
worked as a Lifeguard/ Kayak Instructor at a Summer Camp. My work was to
instruct and supervise school aged children on summer camp in water based
activities. Obviously working in such close proximity it was important to
cultivate the ability to work as part of a team, patience in dealing with the
children, and a strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness.

Practical work placement
to gain experience instructing in water based sports and the running of Kayak
and Canoe sessions. The highlight of this was my independent circumnavigation
of the Isle of Man in a Sea Kayak with other instructors over three days.

were varied from taking the orders via phone or counter, preparing and labelling
the boxes, boxing and cutting the pizzas from oven to delivery, I also helped
in keeping the store clean and tidy as well as washing up at close.
